Conversation with Mish

I have no idea what I said in my last letter to this girl, but for a time I was into pen pals (before the Internet) and usually in one of the first couple letters, we'd get around to discussing hobbies, interests, likes/dislikes, and opinions. So obviously I said something that bugged this girl, since this note is all I received back.

I'm sorry, but I can't write to you anymore, because I'm a Christian and you are into New Age. I just don't think it would work out writing to each other.

(Letter dated April 7, 1994)

Yup, obviously this kid accepts everyone with open arms and no judgment as is supposed to be the Christian way. Although I must say it's possible this kid's mom reads her mail and forced her to answer me like that. Who knows.

Mikey: Sometimes people are so closed-minded, it really is sad that something like religion can separate us in the ways that it does, I would think that it would be most beneficial to accept and learn from our fellow man and try to have understanding but I guess it just proves that the world is not ready for understanding on this level well that's her loss.

Anonymous: People are so closed-minded aren't they!? Christians are so far from their beliefs sometimes it's quite funny. They're supposed to be accepting when really, give them a minute with a pagan or another religion and their faces will turn white. A woman around here even hates Catholics and thinks they're a cult! Anyway, here's an email somewhat similar to this one, only a different subject: "Listen, I'm Sorry if it hurts u, but I really need to say that, I'm a pure male as I told that u! I can't talk to Bi-sexuals or gays or even lesbians. Sorry!"
